Hairdressers' Help for Red Shield Appeal
A local hairdresser held a charity day to benefit The Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal. Hairline, in Kiln Road, turned a day over to the effort. Normal service was suspended for the day and clients were offered a choice of wash and blow dry, shampoo and set or Indian head massage for £5, £3 of which was put aside for the Army.
A total of £145 was raised and was publicly acknowledged during Sunday morning worship on 21 February by CO Major Stuart Dicker, who explained some of the things The Salvation Army is doing in the UK that will benefit from the Red Shield Appeal.

Photograph shows co-owner Helen Brookes handing over the money to Major Gillian Dicker whilst co-owner Angie Window, stylist Jess Hickey and masseur Liam Rochford look on with part-time member of staff, Songster Maureeen Tiifen.
