Shop takings for Haiti

Hadleigh SA charity shopIn the wake of the tragic earthquake in Haiti, a Hadleigh shop is giving a week’s takings to support the relief work in Haiti. The Salvation Army’s Care and Share charity shop, which normally supports the movement’s work locally, will donate all of its takings for a week to the earthquake relief effort.

Hadleigh Temple’s commanding officer, Major Stuart Dicker said “The gross takings from the shop from 25th to 30th January will be donated to the appeal. If people want to just give money without buying, that’s fine; they can do so at the shop. Any cheques should be made payable to The Salvation Army.”

The shop is in London Road, Hadleigh, facing the parish church and is open 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am – 1 pm Saturday.

The Salvation Army has been operating in Haiti for 60 years and is itself victim of the earthquake with buildings having been damaged or destroyed. The Salvation Army is part of the international relief effort and is supplying provisions and trained personnel from various parts of the world including the UK.
