Painting Gifted to Corps
November 16 2008
ON THE occasion of his welcome as a new adherent member of The Salvation Army, Colin Ivory has donated a painting of Sheringham Salvation Army Band in the open air to the corps. Colin often enjoys trips to the north Norfolk town and likes to share in worship at the corps there.
Colin said "I saw this painting and I originally bought it to go on my wall at home, but thought my wall is not the right place for it. It deserves a wider audience and I felt it should belong at the Temple." The picture will be displayed in the lounge.
Colin got into the habit of coming to the Temple building as a member of the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir, which uses the corps facilities for rehearsals and concerts. He started attending praise meetings and then came more regularly. He showed an interest in the band. Having declared that he played baritone many years ago, Colin was invited to rehearse with Hadleigh Temple Band which has led to him taken his place in the divisional fellowship band.
The photograph shows Colin presenting the painting to Major Stuart, with Lieut-Colonel David Phillips who shares Colin's interest in banding and also has links with Sheringham corps.
